Moving on Up(town)

Opening Day is less than 12 hours away, and the Empty Pitchers are busy making preparations for their first season as a team in the A Different World Coed Softball league (several members of the team have played in the league previously).

Koach Korney has received numerous emails throughout this Friday from Pitchers inquiring about the color of the league-provided unis (charcoal gray), confirming directions to the field (make sure you're at the front of the 3 train), both of which she is taking to mean that a sharply-dressed, on-time team will await her at 145th and Lenox tomorrow morning.

As previously mentioned, HR Debbie, whose professional training has acclimated her to the rigors of paperwork and the need for follow-through in all things, will be batting lead-off and playing second base tomorrow. Her check for softball dues arrived - via snail mail - a full two business days ahead of the rest of the team's. Congratulations, Debbie!

Also of note, Julie redeemed her deadbeat fee-payer status by coming through in the clutch on Friday, making a lunchtime run to buy necessary equipment at Paragon Sports - apparently the sole Manhattan sporting-goods supplier that carries bases. Hopefully the Pitchers will get a chance to start putting some wear-and-tear into those bases tomorrow. If not, at least Julie got a quality lunch date out of the errand.

Julie's take on a B&B getaway...
